How is our Laser treatment different than other Laser treatments?

Most lasers on the market today have a power range from .005 W to .5 W, making them a Class "IIIB" Cold Laser. Our FDA approved LiteCure Laser emits a power range from 1 W to 10 W making it a Class IV Laser and several thousand times more powerful than most other therapeutic Lasers.

What types of conditions can be treated with Class IV Laser?

Some of the more common conditions treated with Laser include neck pain, low back pain, disc herniations, sciatica, frozen shoulder, rotator cuff injuries, carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, tendonitis, arthritis, sprains and strains, plantar fascitis, heel spurs, and fibromyalgia. When applied as treatment, Lasers have been shown to reduce pain and inflammation, stimulate nerve regeneration, and result in muscle relaxation and tissue healing.

Can it be used in conjunction with other forms of treatment?

Yes, Laser Therapy is even more effective when combined with other forms of therapy such as chiropractic care, massage therapy, athletic therapy, and acupuncture.

Is it safe and are there any side effects? Does it hurt? What does a treatment feel like?

Laser Therapy is very safe and there are no known side effects. Lasers have no effect on normal tissues, as photons of light are only absorbed and utilized by the cells that need them. Laser Therapy is not recommended, however, for patients who are taking light sensitive drugs or who are pregnant. We also do not perform Laser Therapy over an area that has been injected with steroids within 7 days. It is not to be used over eyes. There are certain instances where the doctor may not recommend Laser Therapy on pediatric patients. It cannot be used on patients with active forms of cancer. Laser Therapy does not hurt. It actually feels quite good and there is a sense of warmth over the area that is being treated.

How many treatments will be required and how long does each treatment take?

The number of treatments required depends on the nature of the problem and the length of time the patient has been affected by it. It is not uncommon to see significant improvement in just one session. Chronic problems and/or deep-seated conditions may take as many as 10 treatments. If there is no improvement after six sessions, we would most likely discontinue further treatment. A typical treatment will take from 5-10 minutes.
